The story starts with two young people: Jack and Elizabeth, both students at the University of Kansas.
Elizabeth was pursuing a degree in metalsmithing, and Jack in industrial design, and they were both working part-time at Goldmaker's, a custom goldsmithing store in Lawrence, Kansas.
This is where they met.

Jack and Elizabeth Gualtieri are constantly perfecting the technique: 22 karat yellow gold granulation.
They are experimenting with yellow gold, white gold, rose gold and platinum and are developing new alloys for this thechnique.
